You can get hiking maps in almost every shop in the surrounding area.

Swimming in running water is fun but should only be done with bathing shoes since rivers here have predominatly rocky banks but the typical “Galetsrocks” are rounded down and seldomly chiselled.

Cycling

Fishing is only allowed if you have a permission, which you can get in press and tobacco shops. It costs approximately 60 and doesn’t contain a limitation of your fishing quota. The Ardeche is rich in fish. There are trout, perch, eel and – seldomly – pike as well as the usual river fishes.

Paddling: On the Ardeche and the surrounding waters a helmet and a life vest are obligatory for paddling. Boat rentals are everywhere and hier you can also get this security equipment. Moreover waterproof barrels, in which you can put spare clothes, drinks and your other belongings. There are short and long distances, so you should check your opportunities.

When you go hiking, you shouldn’t forget a windbreaker since the “Mistral”, a chilling northwind, typical for this region, blows often. Firm hiking boots, headgear, drinks and enough food are further requirements to enjoy the hike because some of the tracks here provide little shadow and some tracks are only stony paths and in mountainous areas there are relatively few restaurants.
